Basis Points (bps) is a term sometimes used to represent percentage point changes. It’s usually seen in finance rather than marketing contexts. It historically referred to changes in interest rates but you’ll sometimes see analyst reports using it when referring to share point changes or, really, any metric that involves a percent change. 1 basis point is equivalent to 1/100 of a percent. So if your market share increases from 5.7% to 8.3% (a 2.6 percentage point change) you could also refer to it as a 260 basis point change (but only the finance people might understand you!).
